Bronx VA Credentialing
The VA Central Office has mandated two rules that impact on the processing of residents (including fellows) coming to the VA on a clinical rotation.
All residents (including fellows) must be fingerprinted and the fingerprints cleared before they are given access to the VA computer system. The clearance takes 24 hours, and therefore must be done in advance of the resident's first day. To cope with the influx of new interns/residents and fellows at the start of the new academic year, the VA Police and Security personnel will at times come to Mount Sinai in late June to obtain the fingerprints there.
All residents need to complete the VA Mandatory Training for Trainees (which includes “Information Security and Privacy”) before computer access can be assigned. This course can be completed online, and should be done before Day 1 of the rotation.
