Diagnostic Tests
Lumbar Puncture
- Elevated protein & Normal WBC (seen in up to 90%)
EMG/NCS
- Prolonged or absent F wave, absent H reflexes, increased distal latencies, conduction block and temporal dispersion
- Nerve conduction velocities do not change until 3rd-4th week.
Serum Ab
- GQ1B (seen in ~90% of patients with Miller-Fisher))
- GM1 (axonal), GD1a (axonal), GD1b (pure sensory), GT1a (swallowing dysfunction)
