Mentorship

Edit

Mentorship:

During their PGY-2 year, each resident is assigned a direct faculty mentor, often a junior or mid-level, to assist with guiding residents through their training process. Mentors are expected to meet with their mentees ideally quarterly to discuss the challenges and opportunities inherent in residency training. A resident’s assigned mentor can be their first-line, go-to person should professional concerns arise; the mentors are not involved in a resident’s evaluation but rather are tasked with helping to ensure a successful and gratifying residency experience.

Additionally, there are an array of designated senior faculty members in the subspecialty areas throughout the Department, who serve as career mentors as residents’ individual interests and fellowship plans solidify. We encourage junior residents to discuss their career interests with their assigned mentor, program director, and senior residents for guidance regarding which sub-specialists to connect with as career mentors.
