Overview:

Neurology Clinical faculty with expertise in education and neurology instruction evaluate residents’ performance in New Innovations. Faculty receive goals and objectives (see 'Goals and Objectives' section) for all required clinical assignments. Faculty are additionally instructed to contact the Program Director/Assistant Program Director directly should they observe any broad issues in a resident's medical or professional performance that may require targeted instruction or remediation. A full “360-degree” evaluation process includes evaluations from faculty, resident peers (anonymous), medical students (anonymous), nurses and patients on 8West, and a resident self-evaluation. These are reviewed twice a year by our Clinical Competency Committee as required by the ACGME, and then in person with the program director at least semi-annually. Reciprocally, teaching faculty receive de-identified evaluations from individual residents through New Innovations, and appropriate remediation from the Program Director or Chair as needed.

Program Feedback: Residents fill out yearly program evaluations on New Innovations in June of every academic year. In addition, at each of the resident's semiannual meetings with the Program Director, residents provide their perception of the program and areas in need of improvement. Both formal and informal resident evaluations of the program are taken very seriously and many changes to the curriculum and schedule have been made based on resident input.
