Parkinson’s/Tremor Exam:
Masked facies?
Tone/Cogwheeling (= Rigidity + Tremor)
FTN, HTS, finger tapping are important (also observe resting hand for resting tremor at this time)
Rest hands in lap
Observe how tremor changes with counting backwards (100, 99, 98…) or with distraction (have patient open and close opposite hand repetitively)
“Stop traffic” with hands
Draw a spiral, write a sentence
Standing from a chair with arms crossed
Retropulsion (have pt stand, pull back)
Orthostatics
Gait: stooped? shuffling? decreased arm swing
