Clinic
The Clinic rotation is a two-week block during the first two months of the PGY-2 year during which the resident will rotate through many of the key subspecialty outpatient neurology clinics at Mount Sinai Hospital including Multiple Sclerosis, Movement Disorders, Behavioral Neurology, Headache and General Neurology. The purpose of the rotation is to help the resident to learn more about these subspecialties and to improve their neurological history-taking and examination skills pertaining to each.
Elective
The elective rotation is the resident's time to explore an area of interest within neurology or a related field. Some of the traditional options for elective rotations, as well as contact information for the relevant faculty are listed below. However, residents may decide to pursue other opportunities, including rotations in other specialties (eg Geriatrics, Neurosurgery, Interventional Pain Management) or at other hospitals (Sleep, Neuro-oncology). The resident may also choose to pursue a research project during their elective time. Any away rotations or research rotations must have a faculty sponsor at this or another institution and be approved by the Program Director. These should be planned 2-3 months in advance to ensure that credentialing can be completed.

Neuroradiology
The Neuroradiology rotation is a two-week block during the first two months of the PGY-2 year. This rotation improves the resident’s ability to interpret neuroradiographic images and helps them understand the relevance of neuroradiology to the care of neurology patients. Residents observe and participate in daily reading sessions and attend neuroradiology rounds with the neuroradiology attendings and fellows.
